Both rooms of the National Assembly have postponed the dates for the resumption of the plenary from 23 September 2025 to 7 October 2025.
The postponement came the same day that the Senate’s Office Useals of the Senator Senator Natasha Akpoti – Uduaghan (Kogi Central).
Information on the postponement of the plenary both for the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, the lawyer Kamoru Ogunlana, in a declaration signed personally, were issued on Tuesday morning by the employee of the National Assembly.
Ogunlana in the declaration entitled: “Reprogramming of the date of resumption of plenary activities in the national assembly”, he said: “I am directed by the officers of both chambers of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all the members of the National Assembly and the public in general and the public general that the date of resumption of the National Assembly has previously scheduled for Tuesday 23 September.
“However, the activities of the Committee continue. All distinct senators and honorable members are invited to take note of the new date and adapt their programs accordingly,
“Any inconveniences caused by this reprogramming are deeply regretted.”
The insertion of the office of Senator Natasha located in room 2.05 of the Senate, was made by Deputy Serjeant – AT – ARS, Alabi Adedeji, exactly at 10:00 in the company of a policeman and another Serjeant with arms.
Senator Natasha was suspended from the Senate on 6 March of this year on the basis of the recommendation in this sense by his committee for ethics, the privileges and public petitions chaired by Senator Neda Imesuen (Edo South).
The Committee considered Senator Natasha guilty of unruly behavior on the Senate floor on February 20, 2025 in his protest against the seat – allocation by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Recall that at the expiry of the suspension of six months on the 4th of this month, Senator Natasha wrote the employee at the National Assembly (CNA), the lawyer Kamoru Ogunlana on his readiness to resume the legislative duties that were however rejected for the fact that the disputes on his suspension were still pending in court.
The implementation of the office of Senator Natasha today (Tuesday), however means that the leadership of the Senate and by extension that of the National Assembly, bowed to the popular opinion of the Nigerians according to which the central senator of Kogi should be authorized to resume his legislative duties, since the suspension period has remained.
