Ogoh Odaudu joins Rwanda Energy Group as Senior Short-Term Lending Coach

Ogoh Odaudu, head coach of Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, has signed a short-term contract with the Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club.

Odaudu’s appointment is part of REG’s preparation for the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL) and other competitions. His experience is expected to enhance the team’s performance on the continental stage.

Rwanda Energy Group, a dominant force in Rwandan basketball with multiple national championships, sees Odaudu as a valuable addition due to his proven track record as a coach.

The Nigerian coach, known for his strategic acumen, is expected to bring new tactics and motivation to the Rwandan team.

REG have been keen to strengthen their roster and coaching staff, demonstrating their ambition to excel in the BAL, where they have previously performed well, reaching the quarter-finals in 2022.

Odaudu will return to Rivers Hoopers after his stint with REG to prepare the Nigerian team for the 2024 Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL).

This move reflects the growing collaboration between African basketball teams, who are sharing resources and expertise to elevate the sport across the continent.

Rwanda Energy Group’s decision to recruit Odaudu underlines their intention to maintain dominance in the local league while making significant inroads in international competitions.
