Ogun 2024 NSF: rivers, Lagos sweep gold medals in the report of the events raised weights
Abeokuta (Core Reporter) Nigeria Polpeslifting Federation (NWF) reported that the rivers and lagos states have swept gold medals in the weight lifting event at the National Sports Festival of 2024 in progress in Abekuta, OGUN State State.
Ruth Nyong of Rivers State and the African champion, Omolola onome Didih of the State of Lagos, were the exceptional interpreters of day 2 of the weight lifting event. Both weight lifters have been reported have won four gold medals and two silver for their states in the female categories of 49 kg and 55 kg.
In the 49 kg women’s class, Nyong won two gold medals and one silver. He raised 75 kg to claim gold in the tear and obtained the second gold in his total lifting of 167 kg. Nyong originally of Akwa Ibom State has delivered Silver Medal Rivers State State with his 92 kg elevator in the Clean & Er.
While, in the same weight class, Ebele Chukwu Vanessa Agbah of Delta State sailed the gold in the clean and the jerk with its lifting of 93 kg and a silver medal with its lifting of 164 kg.
In the fragment, Lagos Zainab paintings grabbed a silver with his lifting of 72 kg while Adamma Dorcas Anyimba of Kano obtained a bronze with his lifting of 71 kg.
Anyimba himself also obtained a bronze medal with his total lifting of 157 kg. Monica Uweh of Ogun State finished with a bronze medal in clean and idiot with its 88 kg elevator.
In the women’s 55 kg, the African gold medal, Omolola onome Didih of Lagos won two gold medals in the fragment and in total with its lifts of 93 kg and 205 kg in that order. However, she was beaten in the clean and jerk by Theresa Daniel Okon by Akwa Ibom State who raised 113 kg to win the gold medal. Didih ended a kilogram for a silver and his third medal.
Temidayo Jegede of Kano has claimed two silver and bronze medals to be added to the radius of the medals of the state of the pyramids. He raised 77 kg in the tear and 175 kg of total lifting for his two silver medals before his bronze in clean and idiot with a lifting of 98 kg. Joy Chima from Lagos obtained the remaining two bronze medals with his lifts of 71 kg and 168 kg in the tear and in total.
In the meantime, the 2023 African Games Gold Medalist, King Kalu of Cross River State and Esther Amarachi Chijoke of Junior Invited athletes (IJA) have sailed five gold medals combined for their states in the 55 kg male.
In the men’s 55 kg, Kalu has secured three gold medals for cross river with a total lifting of 215 kg including 94 kg of lifting in snatch and 121 kg of cleaning and jerk lifting.
Elechi nnadozie Elvis of the state of Bayelsa won a silver medal in the fragment with a lifting of 93 kg while Abayomi Adeleye of the state of Ekiti obtained the bronze medal in snatch with 92 kg.
Tobi Ishola di Oyo claimed a silver in cleaning and Jerk with a lifting of 118 kg and obtained a further bronze medal in the total with 206 kg.
Representing the state of Bayelsa, John Solomon won a bronze medal in clean and Jerk with a lifting of 117 kg and a silver medal in total with a lifting of 207 kg.
In the women’s 45 kg, Esther Amarachi Chijoke of the Junior Invited athletes (IJA) won two goals in cleaning and Jerk medals and total with a lifting of 82 kg and 146 kg respectively and added a silver medal in the layer with a lifting of 64 kg.
Ronke Olarinoye (Lagos) was the second overall in the 45 kg women’s kg with a gold in the fragment with a lifting of 65 kg and a bronze medal in the total with 140 kg.
Christiana Alloma of Rivers State won two silver and a bronze medal. He got a bronze medal in the snatch with a lifting of 61 kg while he added two silver medals in the Clean & Jerk (81 kg) and in total 142 kg.
