Ogun Electoral: the police launch probe arrested by the President of the PDP, Incen staff

Ogun’s police command states that he is investigating the alleged arrest of the State President of the Democratic Party of people (PDP), Abayomi Tella and two members of the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC).

The police commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo, revealed it to journalists on Saturday, while reacting to a video circulating online in which the president of the PDP, two Incen officials and two others were arrested for an accusation of purchase of votes.

According to the commissioner, they were arrested in Iperu Remo on Saturday with a huge amount of money suspected of being for the purchase of votes during the Federal Electoral College Remo.

“We are investigating the matter. Here is how much I can say for now; you can recall later during the day for more information,” he said.

In the meantime, the PDP sentenced the arrest of its president to a hotel, describing it as pure intimidation and harassment presumably supported by the safety agencies.

In a declaration signed by his advertising secretary, Kayode Adebayo, the party said that “in a particularly shocking move, the president of the PDP was arrested in his hotel in the early hours of the morning, in what seems to be a calculated attempt to weaken the opposition”.

“This clear attempt to suppress the opposition and undermines the will of the people of Remo is a dangerous precedent.

“The people of Sagamu, Remo North and Ikenne know for those who have voted.

“The PDP is with the people of Remo and does not sial themselves lazily, while their democratic rights are trampled,” he said.

According to the declaration, the PDP requires an in -depth investigation on the role of security agencies in the elections and requests the immediate release of its president and other members of the opposition unjustly targeted.

He also invited all the well -intentioned Nigerians, civil society organizations and the international community to take note of “this descent into illegality” in the state.

According to Adebayo, the party remains committed to defending the mandate of the people and ensuring that democracy thrives.

“We will not be intimidated and urge the people of Remo to remain resolved in their request for justice and equity,” he said.
