Ogun Govt confirms the custody of the saved child, the viral question of Debunks

The state commissioner of Ogun for women’s affairs and social development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, dispelled the statements in circulation on social media that a two -day saved child would disappear after being delivered to government officials.

Contacting the journalists of Abeokuta on Thursday, Adeleye said that the two -day child in question was legally taken in custody by the ministry after the due documentation by the police, contrary to the viral accusations.

According to her, “there is a clear process for the management of abandoned children. Once a child found, they must be brought by the police who will issue an extract and then transfer the child to our ministry. This process has been fully followed.”

The controversy began after a viral video emerged, showing a woman who said she had found the baby in the Sayedero market in the south of the state of Yewe.

Platform Times reports that he later said he was not aware of the child’s position, despite having followed the vehicle that took away the child.

Adeleye explained that after the woman voluntarily handed over the two -day male child to the authorities, started making new requests and looked for financial assistance from politicians such as Sunday Ibadan, Senator Solomon Olamiilekan (Yayi) and Ibrahim Dende.

“The woman returned later, claiming that she spent over 120,000 on the child and deserved compensation.

“He even called the child, gave him a haircut and brought him to vaccination before delivering him,” said Adeleye.

He described the actions of the woman as an attempt to emotionally blackmail the government and to mislead the public.

“The ministry is completely financed by the governor Dapo Inhabitun and does not use children to solicit funds,” he said.

Adeleye stressed that once a child is delivered to the government, the rescuer has no legal request or says in the well -being of the child.

“Let it be clear: that child is now borne by the government of the state of Ogun – in particular, the son of the governor Dapo inhabitaun – until the biological parents are found.”

On the adoption procedures, he warned the public against the bypassing of the law, stating that only the Ministry through his department for social well -being is authorized to elaborate and approve adoptions.

“No orphanage or individual has the right to put a child for adoption. Anyone who has discovered that he will be accused of kidnapping,” he said.

While answering questions about the hanked orphanage houses, Adeleye revealed that the licenses of all these houses had previously been revoked due to irregularities, but over 30 reapplied after meeting the requirements.

He also confirmed that four children have been legally adopted since he hired an office, adding that they are currently being developed over 100 requests for adoption.

“Even as a commissioner, I cannot adopt a child because I already have two daughters. The priority is given to children without children,” he said.

He concluded by ensuring the public that the child is safe and to be treated, and the government is ready to reimburse the women’s expenses at the time of verification, while the efforts to trace the child’s biological parents continue.
