Ogun Govt under fire for the Statisse ranking on worst roads

The State Government of Ogun was criticized for the maintenance of silence almost three weeks after the data analysis platform, Statisense, ranked the state with the worst quality of the road in Nigeria.

The ranking, published on August 29, continued to arouse indignation between residents and interested parties, with the leaders of civil society that accuse the administration of the governor Dapo Inhabitun of neglecting critical infrastructures.

Convenience of the United Premier Movement (UPM), Hon. Olalekan A. Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, in a declaration, criticized the government’s refusal to refute or respond to the relationship, describing it as “deafening and worrying”.

According to him, the condition of the roads throughout the state, included in Abokuta, has left many impractical highways, worsening of traffic congestion, damaged vehicles and extinguishing lives.

He observed that farmers and owners of small businesses are among the worst success since the transport of goods and services has become increasingly difficult.

Shoyinka asked the government’s silence, asking for answers that the Statisense evaluation was accurate.

“If the ranking is false, why hasn’t the government dispel it? If it is true, what steps are they taken to reverse this embarrassing trend?” he asked.

The UPM leader also asked for explanations on budget allocations for road projects, asking if the funds intended for rehabilitation were used or deviated with judgment.

He accused the government led by the APC of giving priority to the “succession policy of 2027” on governance, warning that silence could be interpreted as “silent admission and deliberate negligence”.

Shoyinka urged the governor inhabitaun to publicly face the matter, publish a temporal level for road rehabilitation in the three senatorial districts of the state and demonstrate the commitment for transparency and responsibility.

“This is not a request for a simple press release but a responsible leadership request. The people of the state of Ogun are looking and silence is no longer an option,” he said.
