Ogun PDP explodes inhabitun on the Games Games 2025, supports the regional marginalization

The chapter of the state of Ogun of the Democratic Party of people (PDP) was thrown to the governor Dapo Inhabitun on the one he described as the “clear exclusion” of Ogun West and the Ijebu axis of Ogun East from the hosting of the next National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2025.

In a strongly formulated declaration signed by its president, the Hon. Abayomi Tella, and made available to the times of the Sunday platform, the opposition party has accused the Government All Progressives Congress (APC) of promoting the regional prejudice and deepening the marginalization lines through the lops distribution of the Festival offices.

According to the PDP, none of the events scheduled for the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival will take place in the five areas of the local government of Ogun West-Vale to say Ado-Ota/Ota, Yewe South, Yew North, IPokia and Imeko-AFonfonio-not the presence of existing sports facilities such as the Ilaro stadium.

The party also denounced what he called the “almost zero involvement” of the Ijebu axis, underlining that only the hockey was assigned to the entire ijebu region, which includes the international stage of Dina in the Ijebu-Ode.

“This deliberate omission not only stinks regional prejudices, but further deepens the lines of marginalization, division and inequality in a state that should thrive on unity and inclusion”, the declaration reads in part.

The PDP recalled the 2006 edition of the Gateway Games under the administration of the former governor Gbenga Daniel, during which all the senators of the state were included in the hosting plan – a model that the party says promoted a true sense of belonging.

“On the contrary, under the governor inhabedun, only Abeokuta and his native axis Remo are enjoying the share of the infrastructure lion financed by the state and sports investments”, said the party, citing developments in progress at the Mko Abiola stadium in the capital of the State.

The statement also questioned the logic behind ignore the existing stadiums in Ilaro and ijebu-Ode, despite their functionality and previous use in the hospitation of important events.

The PDP also accused the state government of allocating millions of naira to sports associations and infrastructure projects in selected areas leaving others behind them.

“It is both shocking and unacceptable,” said the party, “that entire regions with strong sporting inheritance are treated as second thoughts”.

The opposition party also criticized the silence of political leaders, traditional sovereigns and interested parties of the community from the affected regions, urging them to rise above partisania and defend the interests of their people.

While the general elections of 2027 approach, the PDP invited the people of Ogun West and Ijebu to take note of the perceived agaustizia and make the inhaboun administration responsible.

“Gateway games should be a symbol of unity, not a tool for political exclusion,” concluded the declaration. “The people of Ogun West and the Ijebu area deserve more – and they will not be silent.”
