The chapter of the state of Ogun of the Democratic Party Popoli (PDP) strongly criticized the governor Dapo Inhabitun and the Administration All Progressives Congress (APC) following the acquisition of the Federal Government of the Tai Solarin University of Education (Tasted).
The opposition party described development as an evident accusation of the incompetence of the state government in the management of public institutions.
In a declaration issued on Saturday, HPby his secretary, the arch of Otunba Kayodo Adebayo, the PDP claimed that the acquisition was not a result but an embarrassing confirmation of the bankruptcy of the state government.
The party stressed that Tasted was established under the administration of the former governor Gbenga Daniel (2003-2011) to expand access to higher education and create job opportunities.
However, he accused subsequent APC administrations, in particular of Inhabitun, of having neglected the university despite having operated on a budget of trillion of Naira every year.
“It is shameful that the APC government itself, which often boasts of economic progress, cannot properly finance one of its most significant academic institutions.
The acquisition of Tasued is an intervention necessary to save the university from a further decline due to the reckless abandonment by the administration led by AbiOnun “, reads the declaration.
The PDP expressed concern about the fact that the state of Ogun had now lost control over an institution originally designed to serve his natives.
The party complained that Tasted’s negligence was part of a wider trend of poor governance that affects other high school institutions of state property and critical infrastructures.
The declaration also indicated the deterioration of the road network in the state, citing the recent collapse of the Odo’Pako in Ota bridge, which connects the states of Ogun and Lagos.
The PDP accused the inhabedun administration of gross inefficiency, stating that the bridge, in a hurry, was quickly last year, had already failed before the peak of the rainy season.
“Every demanding mind knows that the APC government in the power of Ogun has shown a lack of ability to manage a government that works for its people.
“Perhaps Mr. Inhabitun and his collaborators expect Ogun taxpayers to imply on the federal government to detect the entire government machine in the state,” said the PDP.
The opposition party invited the interested parties and the citizens concerned to ask for a detailed report of public spending for education and to seek urgent intervention to prevent a further collapse of the high school’s high schools.
He stressed that governance concerns responsibility, not the apologies, and has accused the government of trying to mask his failures with the media propaganda.
“The acquisition of Tasted by the FG confirms the disturbing state of public education in the state of Ogun. No quantity of deodorization of the media can cover this reality.
“Mr. Inhabitun must be held responsible for the fortunes of the state and we must not allow fragile apologies to bury the future of our institutions,” concluded the declaration.
