Edo’s state governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday warned the presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, not to enter the country again without security permission.
The governor issued a warning when he received a member of the House of Representatives, Marcus Onobun, to the Congress of all Progressive (APC) at government buildings in Benin City.
Okpebholo, who alleged that Obi was behind the rise of violence in Edo, said that the visit of the former Governor of the new Anambra state to the state to coincide with the murder of three people by criminals.
He said: “The man who said he did not have ‘Shishi’ came and dropped N15 million. Where did he get it? After he left, three people were killed. For this reason, Obi could not come to Edo without security permission.
“I sent a message directly to him. There was a new sheriff in the city. He could not come to Edo without telling me, because his safety would never be guaranteed.

“Whatever happens to him when he is in the state of Edo, he will accept it. I am serious about it.”
He warned that the state government would not tolerate violence related to politics.

“We did not lobby anyone to join APC; they came because they saw the results of our government. In 2027, 2.5 million votes from Edo were guaranteed for the President of the Tinubu Bola,” Okpebholo said.
