One dead, eight others trapped after hotel collapses in Germany

One person was confirmed dead and eight others injured after a hotel in the German town of Kroev partially collapsed near a riverbank on Tuesday.

Firefighters and paramedics were at the scene searching for and rescuing victims in the Moselle town of Kröv, about 100 km west of Frankfurt.

The cause of the accident that occurred on Tuesday night is still unclear.

“Several people managed to leave the building on their own and were cared for by emergency services and counselors,” police said Wednesday.

Images from the scene showed parts of the multi-storey building collapsed, with concrete debris on the ground.
