One killed, 10 others injured in car crash in Ogun

One person was killed while 10 others were injured in an accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday.

The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Mrs. Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident in a statement in Abeokuta.

He said the accident occurred at around 3:00 pm, near the Saapade Bridge, and involved a white Mazda Bus with registration number GGE 858 XY.

Okpe added that the accident was caused by excessive speed.

“In total, there were 17 people involved, consisting of eight men, seven women, and two children.

“Unfortunately, one woman died while 10 people —- two men, six women and two children —- were injured,” he said.

FRSC officials said the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital in Ogere for medical attention, while the deceased were being treated at the FOS Mortuary in Ipara.
