One person died, 6 injured in an anambra gas explosion

One person was killed and six were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at the pipe market in Anambra State on Friday.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday at AWKA.

He helped the incident occurred when a welder was working on metals with carbides filled in the market.

He said: “The police operation attached to the headquarters of the Police Chief Division of Onitsha on May 16, 2025 completed the rescue efforts by people who were eager to six victims of the gas cylinder explosion in the pipe market, along the Street, who recorded a death.

“Initial information revealed that the welding gas cylinder exploded when a welder was working on metals due to excessive heat exposure.”
