The state commissioner IMO for sport, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, on Saturday, took the opening shirt to mark the golf kitten awareness on cancer at the Arsenal Golf Club, Obinze.

By contacting players and guests before the start of the game, Onyeocha compared the fight against cancer to a golf match, underlining the need for teamwork, discipline and preparation to remain in advance. He described awareness as the game plan, screening as the defense and healthy habits as a constant swing had to remain on course.

He also noticed that early detection remains the best victory shot, while the support of the community is crucial for those who already fight the disease.

The kitten, hosted by Dr. Okey Duru, has attracted a strong field of participants and spectators. Among those on the field there were HRM Igwe Acholonu, San Dewigwe and many other dignitaries, who joined golfers, health supporters and community leaders in bringing home the message of awareness.

The event combined the commercialism of fairway with defense for a healthier life, sending a clear signal that, just like in golf, concentration, consistency and support are the key to beating cancer.
