Operational effectiveness: Mag. Gen. Ugbo urges Ophk commanders to protect critical communication infrastructures

Maiduguri (Core reporter) The Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), the main general Nosakhare Ugbo, urged the commanders of the Operation Hadin Kai (Open to fight at any time to protect critical communication infrastructures to improve operational efficiency.

The major Gen Ugbo gave the assignment on Saturday 27 September 2025, while he made an operational evaluation visit to the headquarters of the Task Force Joint (North East), the Operation Hadin Kai (Open), as part of the current efforts to improve the effective communication support for the counter-insurrection operations in the North-East in line with the heads of the head of the Army staff, Outufemied General Tenories.

Speaking during the visit, Maj Gen Ugbo explained that his mission was to evaluate the installation, maintenance and protection of critical communication infrastructures throughout the theater, the interface with the interested parties and conduct assessments on the spot projects to support the Operation Hadin Kai. He urged the commanders in the theater to maintain and protect the structures of the communication technology of the installed information (TIC), the communication equipment and other qualifying factors, noting that these resources are essential to support effective coordination and command systems. He assured Opehk the continuous support of the body in providing robust and innovative communication solutions to help the fight against terrorism.

In his observations, the commander of the theater, the main general Abdulsalam Abubakar, appreciated the body of the commander’s signals for foresight and the innovative thrust. He described communication as “the dorsal plug of successful operations” and has assured that all critical infrastructures will be protected to guarantee an operating effectiveness supported in the interest of regional and national security. He expressed optimism that the visit would have a positive impact on the overall success of the Operation Hadin Kai.

Previously, during the CCS briefing, the commander 57 Brigade, the Brigadier General Nelson Okafor, made a presentation on the activities of 57 signals operating under ophk, highlighting the progress made in the deployment of communication equipment, enabling and other ICT projects throughout the theater. He observed that these efforts had significantly improved the control and control functions in ophk.

The salient points of the visit included detailed operational briefs, signature of the visitors book, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs with sector commanders and components, commanders and main officers of the Open staff.
