Opinion: harassment of the elderly and president of power without attendance

Abuse has been going on since May 29, 2015. First, it is Major. Muhammadu Buhari, an elderly retired from the Nigerian army who accessed the presidency after three previous failed efforts. The political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), achieved achievements by expelling the Democratic Party (PDP) who were in power from the central government in Abuja. At that time the PDP had ruled for sixteen years with an oath to remain in office for 44 years of minimum. The party claimed it was the biggest political party in Africa, and heralded unbeaten. At present, PDP is a mess, so that the loss of heavy class including members of the council, members of the National and State Parliament, the Governor of the State, the President’s friend, among others, to the ruling party. One of the APPORTATCHIK and once of its main funding, Nyesom Wike, served in the ruling party, APC, as governor (truly Minister) from the Federal Capital Region (FCT). First, Wike strengthened two other governors to rebel in PDP when he lost the presidential ticket for the 2023 election for Abadi’s contestants, Atiku Abubakar in the main election contest. He has become a mortal enemy and nightmare of a flounder party. For now, there is no indication he plans to leave the party and fully join the APC he has in the past is described as a political party that suffers from stage four cancer. But he won’t let the party. And for any reason, party leaders seemed to be afraid to drive him out. Indeed, it has been seriously claimed that Wike is the father of Baptist from the Acting Chairperson of the PDP, Iliya Umar Damagun and the National Secretary fought, Nnaemeka (Samdaddy) Anyanwu. The truth is that Wike is like “Odudu Bere N’amu” from the PDP-A Tsetse fly that is perched on the scrotum. There is a danger in destroying to kill him. There is also a greater danger to submit it to the device.

But we digress. Back to the abuse of the elderly and other malaise. Buhari was a parent when he reportedly won the president. There is nothing wrong with being old. Conversely it is a blessing and almost everyone prayed to grow old. So it’s not a disqualification factor. But he was sick, very sick, as far as the former Governor of the State Ekiti, Ayo Fayose, took a full yard ad in the national newspaper that suggested that Buhari could die at any time. He did not die in an office like a former president, Umaru Yar’adua from PDP. But he was weak until he could not. Indeed, at one time during his presidency, Buhari spent 103 consecutive days -after being treated at a hospital in London. When he returned to Nigeria, he openly claimed that he was not sick throughout his life. Once again, disease is not a crime but must be a disqualification factor for those who aspire to lead a country that, still in terrible difficulties, and miss fast-paced development. And a president present. Buhari isn’t, and now it’s not yet. Present outside of physical presence.

Because Buhari was sick because most of his presidency, and also because he was an old man, the country suffered greatly. Two of his term of office for eight years became a grasshopper year. An economist who was once the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said that eight years Buhari took the country back 30 years. His statement was not made in emptiness. That is not strange considering that critics in the last days are diligent supporters and promoters of the nomination of President Buhari in 2014/2015. In 2019 this supporter pulled back by quoting an Islamic order that said something that applies that it will be more beneficial for people for people who are not too pious to take leadership positions than for a man who is considered pious but does not know anything to be led. His statement about Buhari took Nigeria’s economy back with at least one generation supported by serious and burdensome data. Deputy Buhari, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a relatively younger person, for all purposes and objectives, is issued and ruled out. He is responsible for visiting public places to distribute cash in the names of ‘Tradermoni’ and ‘Marketmoni’. This is the best strategy that can be designed by the regime to appoint Nigerians from poverty. The poverty of the tools weakens. The regime’s brain boxes ensure that television cameras are trained to the Vice President Professor of Law every time he is in the market distributing small cash to traders, a few handouts are the same and sad with only N20,000 (twenty thousand naira) only. Osinbajo was deliberately ridiculed, demeaned and reduced. That might some explain why when he was contested in the APC primary election for Presidential tickets in 2022, a party chief who is now the vice president of the country, Alhaji Mohammed Kashim Shettima, said that Osinbajo would be more beneficial for himself and the country if he aspires to become an ice cream vendor.

So Buhari is paralyzed by old age and poor health, and Osinbajo is shackled by a secret gang in the 2015-2023 Buhari president. The country’s ship became without a steering, and the country drifted. The young criminals in the regime took full advantage and introduced what was known as the ‘elderly harassment’ to the president. Broadly, the elderly harassment will involve physical persecution, emotional danger, financial exploitation, neglect, psychological and sexual harassment of parents. But in the case of the Buhari presidential, it is a deprivation, use and abuse of presidential power by a well -placed aide without the President’s knowledge and approval. Often, such power is used for personal benefits. Members of the kitchen cabinet are mainly from the northern part of the country, and most Muslims become naughty. They were not elected but they used the enormous power and death of the president. The common refrain from Buhari while he ruled and his maids ruled while things that happened around him were: “I’m unconscious”. It is usual to hear and read about resistance to Osinbajo’s leadership by ministers and high officials during the foreign journey of Buhari. This situation does not improve even during a rare opportunity when Buhari officially transmits the strength of the President to the Vice President. One of the highest points was when Osinbajo, as Acting President, made changes in the leadership of the secret police. It was opposed, and finally reversed when Buhari returned. It is a sad view and the sum of the vice president who acts as president.

When last week in this column we described the current vice president, Shettima, as a ghost worker, it was related to the remaining treatment of a vice president as not a person by the APC regime. The President, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, never felt obliged to formally or informally send the President’s strength to Shettima. Even with his official age 73, Tinubu is an old man in a country where life expectancy is almost 55 years. As we said before, the older must be coveted. Like Buhari, Tinubu also cannot be said to be healthy. Before he was declared president in 2023, France was said to be his choice destination for medical tourism. In less than two years in the office he has been to France at least six times. If my memory is true, one is a state visit, another personal visit, while the other is nicknamed a work visit. No one is registered as requested for health reasons. So, once again Nigeria is burdened with an old man as president whose health condition is covered in confidentiality. But he is widely believed to be weak, and younger vice president who has become a ghost. And this country experienced Deja Vu or Buhari 2.0. Although Tinubu is referred to as a clever politician, refrain in the city is that once again, the presidential assistants have seized the strength of the president, and used them for personal benefits. It has been recommended in many places that regardless of his clear excessive political intelligence, Tinubu has since been a victim of the elderly harassment by its maids. They did things in his name including a promise of meeting that he might not realize but did not have the openness of Buhari to openly recognize the lack of knowledge about things like that. And often the maid abuse and combines the use of a relatively simple presidential power. But regardless of clear elderly harassment, Tinubu has everything that happened in his presidency, warts and all.

This means that for about 10 years the state has been governed and destroyed by cables. In addition, so long we also have, still have, the president who misses and is passionate for power for power but is unable to attend to people. For 10 years Nigerians have not been fortunate to have a president available to listen to their worries and needs; Those involved with them, understand their problems, and actively work to overcome them; A president who is responsible, transparent in decision making, and is responsive to the needs of the people; A leader who shows sincere empathy, recognizes their struggle and challenges; And, a president who gives effective leadership, and makes decisions based on information that benefits most people. The implication of the presence of the President is that the people are more likely to trust the leaders and their government who will help the president to make decisions based on information for the good of most. A president who is present to the people will ensure that his leadership will enjoy the increase in legitimacy, build trust, promote good governance, and ensure that the government serves the needs of citizens. The presence of the president has been absent for 10 years in our country. And that won’t end. Already a winding decade. And a nightmare at that time.
