Concentrate on facing the killings in Benue, he leaves only the politicians of Abuja that PDP says to Alia.
Makurdi (basic reporter) in what seems advice, the Democratic Party of people (PDP) advised the Governor of the State Benue, Hyacinth alia, to focus more on facing insecurity in the state that chasing Abuja’s politicians.
This was contained in a press declaration issued on Saturday 7 June 2025 by the Chapter of the Benue State of the PDP. The party also invited the governor to appoint the politicians he said are behind the killings in the state.
PDP believed that Alia was engaged in a useless game of guilt for murders in the state. This was in the reaction of Alia’s comments during a live interview on Channels TV, where he accused the owners of Benue’s political offices in Abuja of being behind insecurity in the state.
PDP, in the declaration signed by his advertising secretary, Tim Nyor, described the governor’s accusations as an attempt at political evasion that is not only irresponsible but also dangerously distracts from the urgent and substantial measures necessary to face the crisis.
The party considers a reckless atonance by the governor as deeply discouraging and counterproductive.
“It is important to note that Benue’s security challenges are not in isolation in Nigeria. States near the Plateau and Taraba face similar threats, but their governments have shown a more responsible approach by recognizing the realities of safety and adopting proactive measures to deal with them.
“On the contrary, the focus of the Governor alia was on the change of guilt, alternating between accusing the politicians of Abuja, foreign invaders and other acts of the opportunity, instead of facing the causes of the insecurity root.
“Do we have to ask: are the attacks in Plateau, Enugu, Taraba or elsewhere are only attributable to the representatives of Abuja?
“The truth remains that the attacks of shepherds in Benue precede the administration of the governor alia, just as they did during the heats of the governors Samuel Ortom and Gabriel Suswam.”
According to the PDP, the previous administrations recognized the threat and called it with its name-outlets of armed shepherds-senses to resort to revereen shots.
The party observed that it is disconcerting that logic and reason seem to be absent from the approach of the administration to insecurity.
“Instead of addressing the fundamental issues, the rhetoric of the governor is spoiled by distractions, false accusations and propaganda.
“Benue’s security challenges must not be rejected or sacrificed on the altar of political opportunity.
“I insinuate or openly affirm that the representatives of Abuja are sponsor of pastor terrorism is not only irresponsible, but a dangerous incorrect diagnosis of the problem,” added the declaration.
PDP added that these reckless statements of the Administration will certainly minimize authentic efforts to face insecurity in the state.
The declaration stressed that while the governor can enjoy immunity from the accusation, it must be remembered that the politicians of Abuja that evil do not share the privilege.
“If he sincerely believes his statements, he should present complete safety relationships to the relevant authorities for appropriate actions rather than resort to unfounded propaganda.
“The PDP urges the governor alia to abandon the policy of guilt and focus on concrete, inclusive and responsible security strategies. Authentic leadership at this critical moment requires honesty, responsibility and a unifying spirit: qualities that are fundamental for a leader who also has the moral responsibility of a reverend”, added the note.
