The leader Dan Orbih, national vice-president, PDP South-South Chapter, said that the Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike was not the problem of people’s democratic party.
According to ORBIH, the real problem of the PDP is that with an interest rooted in the dispute of each presidential election without respecting the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP.
ORBIH, also the leader of the Legacy group of the PDP in the state of Edo, said this while officially delivered the new secretariat of the PDP that donated to the party on Wednesday in Benin.
The national president to Interim, Amb. Iliya Damagun will begin the congresses that would bring new leaders able to reposition the PDP and restore its lost glory.
“The PDP is a strong and formidable part, but still has challenges that we cannot afford to ignore or sweep under the carpet.
“Wike is not the party problem. The real problem is those who want to work every time without following the party guidelines of the party.
“We must put aside our differences and work with the sincere members of the party to reconstruct and reposition the PDP for future political battles in sight.
“People are deriding the PDP and ask where we are, but I tell you today, Edo’s PDP has completely returned,” he said.
Orbih said that Edo Pdp became homeless after the party was evicted by his former secretariat in January, a situation that left the members deeply upset and disappointed.
He added that following the eviction, the leaders of the party and members have reached it, expressing their frustrations and promised them a member and permanent office.
“A few weeks ago, during our meeting I committed myself to giving a secretariat to the party. Today I kept that promise.
“The PDP cannot continue to be homeless. On January 17, 2025, our former president was removed from the former party secretariat along the airport.
“From January to today, Edo PDP has not had a state secretariat. The party operated without a physical office or a well -known central position.
“Today marks a new chapter. We celebrate the official opening of an appropriate state secretariat of the PDP, putting an end to the labeling of the homeless,” he added.
ORBIH also exploited the opportunity to warn the members of the Guardian Committee of the PDP Edo, exhorting them to stop making statements on behalf of the party.
He said that the members of the Committee were not recognized by the establishment of the PDP and can no longer represent the party after working to undermine it.
“I look back and I feel deeply saddened by the current state of our party, which once had two senators and a majority of the room of representatives in the state.
“Today, PDP does not have a senator, only one member of the House of Representatives, and we lost the governor against the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he complained.
“In my role as a national vice president, South-south, I declare that those who parade as members of the custodian committee of the PDP Edo do not have legitimacy or authority.
“From this day on, we will not recognize any declaration unless they come from those who manage the PDP in Edo,” he concluded.
ORBIH, however, praised the governor on Monday Okpebholo for his humility and for the respect of traditional institutions in the state.
“Today we are witnessing a different act of governance, we appreciate what you are doing and we urge you to continue,” he said.
