The Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ in the World, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, has condemned the proliferation of unauthorized theological seminaries within the church, warning that certificates issued by such institutions would not be recognized.
Oshoffa, in a note dated March 16, 2026 and addressed to all regions, districts, zones and ecclesial pastors, accused some operators of illegally using his name to legitimize their activities.
He described the development as disturbing and warned those behind the seminaries to immediately desist from issuing what he called fake certificates to unsuspecting seminarians.
“It has come to my attention that some unauthorized theological seminaries operating within the CCC are illegally using my name to issue fake certificates to their seminarians without my consent or approval,” he said.
The cleric stressed that any certificate obtained from such institutions will be considered invalid by the church leadership.
“Let it be known that any certificate obtained from such unauthorized institutions will not be recognized by the administration of the Celestial Church of Christ in the World,” he added.
Reaffirming the church’s position, Oshoffa said the Heavenly Church of Christ Theological Seminary, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, remains the only approved institution for theological training within the denomination.
He therefore ordered all intending and serving pastors to enroll exclusively in the recognized seminary.
“All intending and serving Pastors who wish to enroll in theological courses are invited to enroll in the Celestial Church of Christ Theological Seminary,” the statement read.
The warning comes at a time when concerns are growing over the rise of unregulated religious training centers and the integrity of clerical certification within religious organizations.
