The joint commission for admission and enrollment (Jamb) has issued the statistical breaking of the unified tertiary registration exam of 2025 (UTME).
The analysis of the performance records of the candidates published on Monday indicated that over 1.5 million candidates obtained a score of less than 200.
According to data, only 12,414 candidates, who represent 0.63% of the total of 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam, have marked 300 and beyond. 4,756 candidates (0.24%) have scored 320 and beyond, while 7,658 (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319.
In stark contrast, 983,187 candidates, or 50.29%, fall within the range of scores 160-199, the threshold generally considered the minimum cut for admission to the tertiary institutions.
According to Jamb, another 334,560 candidates (17.11%) have marked between 200 and 249, positioning them in the moderate performance band.
Among over 550,000 candidates who obtained a score of less than 160, about 488,197 candidates (24.97%) fall within the interval of 140-159, while 57,419 (2.94%) have scored between 120 and 139. A total of 5,851 candidates, which represent only 0.30%, have marked below 120, with 2.031.
