Over 2.5 million pre-recorded Nigerians online in two weeks-bin

Abuja (Reporter Core) The Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) said that the online pre-registry exercise that started on Monday 18 August 2025 and in its second week of Sunday 31 August, a total of 2,532,062 Nigerians pre-employed online.

According to the Commissioner and the National President of Incen, the Committee for the instruction of information and voters, Sam Olumekun, the Commission met in a regular session on Tuesday 2 September 2025 and considered the report of the continuous electoral registration (CVR) in progress for online registration and person.

Olumekun declared, last week, the Commission published the detailed break of the figure at the end of the week before the year. Adding that the cumulative figure at the end of the week two shows that 1,218,482 (48.12%) are males and 1,313,580 (51.88%) are females. In terms of age and occupation, the majority – 1,602,484 (63.29%) – are aged between 18 and 34, while 647,528 (25.57%) are students.

“The Commission reiterates according to which these are pre-registry data from our dedicated CVR portal. The introduction of the pre-registry option in 2021 allowed the Nigerians to start the online process from anywhere in the world 24 hours a day, including weekends.

This instruction is clearly declared on the online portal. We urge all online pre-registers to complete the person process in the Incen designated centers without which the only online process is not valid.

“The Commission is aware that there are Nigerians who do not have access to online structures or those who prefer to register in person. Consequently, our staff has been deployed to attend the citizens eligible at the 811 state and local offices of the Commission, nationally.

Recall that the registration of person began on Monday 25 August 2025. Within five days to Friday 29 August 2025, a total of 72,274 citizens completed the pre-registry process or registered again on which 35,622 (49.29%) are males and 36,652 (50.71%) are women. In terms of age and occupation, most of them – 54,718 (75.71%) – are aged between 18 and 34, while 30,953 (42.83%) are students.

Basic journalists report that the graphic details of the distribution of declarants at the end of the second week of online recordings and the week of person for the state, sex, age, employment and disability have been loaded on our website and other official platforms for public information.

“The Commission appreciates the positive response of citizens and the efforts of organizations that mobilized civic participation in the exercise,” said Olyumekun.
