Oyedeji Oyedeji promises to expand his university basketball championship

Nigeria’s national male basketball team, former D’Tigers captain, Oyedeji, has promised to expand its innovative university competition to a complete national championship next year.

Following the competition that won the Ahmadu Bello University, Tsaria, the Six and 10 -inch Oyedeji, which is now the president of the Nigeria Olympics Association (Noa) and the vice president of the Olympic Committee (NO) of Nigeria (NOC), said he was happy with what he saw in exhibition of all higher competing institutions.

The soft voice star, which was produced by Ebun Comets of Akure (before they moved to Lagos), he added: “I am happy to smile on their faces. We have seen a lot of talent, but we have not seen a University Basketball League in Nigeria.

“This competition has shown that we have a lot of university talent in Nigerian basketball. This is where they made me, and I played university basketball during my time. So, I am happy to contribute to develop this sector, and I will continue to do so.”

The former international, who is now also a member of the Board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), then talked about the competition that caught the attention of university students in the main universities of the six geopolitical regions of the country.

Hey, revealed, “We started this trip in March, when we had the eliminations in the six geopolitical areas, and we had the best three teams … doing 18 teams for the main phase. We wanted to see them play the best basketball, and I am happy to have achieved that.”

The old Ace Slam-Dunk, which also actively played for 21 different clubs, including teams in China, Greece, Korea and Russia, concluded looking towards the future, since it excited that the competition would soon evolve to a championship based on major leagues through which more talents will arise.

“Hopefully, we will continue doing this, and then we can capitalize on the great variety of talents available. We are happy to give hope for these young talents and give them confidence.

“We hope to expand to a large -scale university basketball league. Hopefully, we can return to where our basketball was.

“We will continue to grind and, hopefully, we will get there. Next season, it will be much more than this,” the 44 -year -old man Hey projected.
