Kazakh duo Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won their first medal of the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Le and Islam Satpayev claimed a surprise bronze medal in the mixed 10m air rifle team event.
It is the country’s first Olympic medal in shooting since Atlanta 1996.
They claimed a straightforward victory over Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich and Anna Janssen, outscoring their opponents 17-5 in Chateauroux.
World number one Janssen and world number 19 Ulbrich were the favourites to prevail over Le and Satpayev, ranked 33rd and 95th in the world respectively.
