By Victor Osula, Abuja

A passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna made it derail on Tuesday morning, near the Jere station, leaving hundreds of blocked passengers.

The accident arrives a few days after the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed that one of the coaches’ wheels on the Abuja-Kaduna (AKTS) railway service has experienced a hot axle several kilometers from the Rigasa station in Kaduna on August 20.

This last accident occurred after the train started Abuja around 11, on a course for Kaduna, before it derail near the Jere station.

Although no mortality or accident records, relationships say that military personnel have been deployed on the site to help evacuate blocked passengers.

At the time of the press, the management of NRC has not yet issued any declaration on the accident.
