Pastor Adefarasin gave a guarantee after he showed the police object he pointed to the tiktoker was a stun

The senior priest of the house in the rock church in the state of Lagos, Father Paul Adefarasin, who had faced police investigations after he showed what appeared to be a weapon for the creator of the content, had been guaranteed by the Nigerian police after he volunteered to surrender to be interrogated.

Lagos State Police Spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who revealed this in the statement he shared in the Handke of X from the State Police Command on Tuesday, said the preacher was given a guarantee after a thorough investigation revealed that what he showed TikToker was a stun weapon.

Before the priest surrendered, he had been dragged severely by the Nigerian people who believed what he was holding in the video of the incident was a weapon, with many people asking why a clergy had to go with a gun and raise it in public.

Father Adefarasin also rejected the claim that he threatened the creator of content with weapons.

During the sermon at his church on Sunday, June 8, he had cleaned the air on the claim, saying what he was holding was not a weapon even though he did not reveal what was in the message.

In a message posted to his social media account, Adefarasin has rejected the claim as a misunderstanding, stating that the object seen in the video is not a firearm and that he did not direct it to anyone.

“You might realize a video circulating on social media that shows me what some people misunderstand as a brandishing firearms. I want to convince you – that is certainly not a firearm, and there is no point that I show anyone,” he said.

However, after public protest, the police had sailed this problem with Hundeyin promised that there would be an investigation because there was no one, no matter how high it was placed, above the law.

“Nothing is above the law! Father Paul Adefarasin has surrendered at the Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have begun investigation into the case because a video appears online that shows priests holding objects such as weapons against other road users while driving unregistered vehicles.

The results of the investigation will be published, “Hundeyin has written on X.

On Tuesday, after the priest surrendered to the police, Hundeyin returned to X to write:

“Father Paul Adefarasin, who surrendered today in the Lagos State Police Command for a viral video where he was seen holding objects such as weapons against other road users, interrogated and he submitted a warning statement to police investigators.

“What was found from him, objects such as weapons seen in viral videos, are not weapons or deadly firearms, but stun guns, which are prohibited anti-luluk equipment.”

Hundeyin added that the priest had been given a guarantee while the investigation of the incident continued.
