Host Liverpool Bournemouth to open the Premier League season – Thage

Champions Liverpool will host Bournemouth on the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League season, with Manchester United playing Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Liverpool, who won the championship in the first season of Lorne Slot in office, will begin their defense of the title at Anfield in the increase in the curtain on Friday 15 August.

Sunderland, recently promoted, returning for the first time since 2016-17, their campaign against West Ham begins the following day.

The winners of the Leeds championship welcome Everton to Elland Road for the match on Monday evening, while Burnley – promoted for the first time at the maximum flight – travels for the holders of the Europa League Tottenham, who will be led by Thomas Frank in a championship match for the first time.

Everton fans will have to wait until the second round of fixtures for their first championship game at the Hill Dickinson stadium, when they have to face Brighton.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City hopes to recover from a rare season without trophies with a strong start against Wolverhampton Wanderers in Molineux.

The season, which consists of 380 games in 33 weekends and five midweek rounds, will end on Sunday 24 May.

During the holiday period, clubs will not be asked to play twice in less than 60 hours.

It will be the first season with the new television agreement of the Premier League in progress, with every game outside the blackout of 15:00 on Saturday to be broadcast live by Sky Sports or TNT Sports.

        Introduction  A free, independent, and vibrant press is one of the strongest pillars of any democratic society. Section 22 of the 1999  Constitution states: “ “The press, radio, television and other agencies of the mass media  shall at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this chapter( ie Chapter II) and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the Government to the people”  Section 39(1)  of same Constitution states : “Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference” ..  To complement these constitutional provisions, Section 1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) states “Notwithstanding anything contained in any other Act, law or regulation, the right of any person to access or request information, whether or not contained in any written form, which is in the custody or possession of any public official, agency or institution howsoever described, is established.” while Section  2(2), states that: “A public institution shall ensure the proper organization and maintenance of all information in its custody in a manner that facilitates public access to such information”  Primary Purpose of FOIA  According to the Act, its primary purpose is to make information about public records freely available to every Nigerian in the public interest. …
