The chapter of the state of Ogun of the Democratic Party of the peoples (PDP) launched a frightening attack on the governor Dapo inhabitaun and the Congress of All Progressives (APC) of sentence on what he described as a “monumental betrayal” of the trust of workers, following the renewal of the government of the government.
In a declaration issued on Sunday by its advertising secretary, Otunba (Arc.) Kayode Adebayo, the PDP sentenced the administration led by Inhabitun for presumably ignored the workers’ situation and pushing forward with the CPS reforms without the first accounting for years of unpaid deductions or to implement adequate pension structures.
Describing development as “an unforgivable crime”, the opposition party accused the government of systemic abuses and severe negligence, adding that the administration had given up on moral law of starting any pension reforms until the past obligations had been resolved.
“The refusal by the organized work of the proposed CPS is not only a protest: it is a cry by a workforce that has been robbed and insulted without mercy”, the declaration reads partly.
“Where is the ₦ 82 billion? Why did the state not take into account? Why proceed with the reforms of pensions when the legal paintings, the pension council, the culture of remittances and the trust of workers are absent?”
The party stated that the government’s silence on the position of funds is equivalent to “criminal negligence”, accusing the administration led by the APC of playing “roulette with the life of his workforce”.
He argued that for any reform of the CPS to be successful, there must first be a credible audit of the exceptional pension liabilities and the creation of a complete pension database, among other institutional paintings.
The declaration observed that the absence of these structures further underlines the statements of the party of bad management and insincerity.
“The government refused to involve Ogun workers in creating a pension database or in the creation of institutions requested. This is an irrefutable proof of an intentionally fraudulent administration,” said the PDP.
The party also invited the Chamber of the Assembly of the State of Ogun to intervene and join the workers and civil society to resist what he described as a “fraudulent distraction”.
He added: “Until the Governor inhabitants provides a complete explanation of the missing ₦ 82 billion, any attempt to proceed with the CPS is a gross disservice for workers who have endured years of pain under this administration”.
The PDP declaration comes between the growing tensions between the unions and the state government for the expected reintroduction of the CPS, which the organized work has already rejected, citing unpaid rights and lack of transparency.
