Perm sec, 4 others electrocuted in Gombe

A permanent secretary in the state civil service of Gombe and four other people have been electrocuted, while another 13 have undergone various degrees of injuries, following an increase in the high supply of electricity in the early hours of Saturday.

Muhammad Yusuf Kulani was the permanent secretary of the State Ministry for special duties and regional integration.

The neighbors said that the deceased Kulani was electrocuted as he opened the gate of his house, located in the Tudun Wadan area Pantami in Gombe Metropolis.

At the time of the accident, the deceased was with his daughter, who survived the accident, but currently at admission to the hospital.

The permanent secretary and the other four victims were buried according to Islamic rites.

Confirming the accident, the Gombe State Police Command said that it occurred in the Tudun Wadan Pantami area in the metropolis of Gombe.

The head of the Public Relations of the Command Police (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said that the tragic event was following a high voltage wave from a nearby electricity transformer.

He said that after receiving the report, the agents of the low -cost division police headquarters promptly visited the scene to guarantee the area and evacuate the victims in hospital for medical treatment.

“The preliminary investigations revealed that the unfortunate accident caused the lives of five people, while another 13 have undergone various degrees of injuries. The injuries are currently receiving medical treatment in different health structures of the state,” he said.

DSP Abdullahi assured the public that an in -depth investigation would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the wave and guarantee responsibility where necessary.

“The members of the public are invited to remain calm and collaborate with the emergency teams and investigation as efforts are made to prevent future events,” he said.

In the meantime, the governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed deep pain for the tragic accident.

In a statement by his spokesman, Ishilaila Uba Misilli, the governor described the accident as a heartbreaking and a colossal loss, “not only to the immediate families of the deceased, but to the entire state of tires.

“I received with profound sadness the devastating news of the tragic electrocution accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, in Tudun Wadan Pantami, which led to the death of five people and left many other injured.

“This heartbreaking accident, caused by an increase in a high voltage electricity transformer by an electricity transformer, has immersed our state in mourning.

“The disappearance of Alhaji Yusuf Kulani and others in such a devastating accident is deeply painful. Kulani was a diligent, disciplined and patriotic officer who served our dear state with integrity and commitment. The loss of such a precious life, including other promising citizens, is a painful blow not only for their immediate families but for the entire state of tires.

“I would like to ensure affected families and the general public that we will collaborate with the relevant authorities to guarantee an in -depth investigation on the main cause of this tragedy and adopt all the appropriate measures to prevent these overflowing accidents from resorting.

“On behalf of the government and the people of the State of Gombe, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and their loved ones of all those who have lost their lives in this tragic event.
