The export of Nigeria gas immersed itself following three sabotage attacks to an important oil pipeline in the state of Bayelsa which feeds the export terminal of Nigeria liquid natural gas (NLNG) to Bonny, a state of spinners.
The 24-inch Gas-Obinbiri-Obiobi gas pipeline between Angiama and Angiamagbene in the area of the local government of southern Ijaw of the state of Bayelsa was jumped out of three points on April 3.
Ondando Plc, operators of the structure, confirmed on Friday that the violated pipeline was closed to avoid further pollutants and to pave the way for investigations.
The confirmation is contained in a declaration issued by Idongesit Edet, Assistant Manager, Public Relations and internal communications at Oando Plc.
“Ondando Plc confirms three separated attacks on his pipes last week.
“In line with the best practices, the company immediately activated its response plans to emergencies and began the stresses of containment in the sites concerned to minimize the environmental impact.
“The company also immediately implemented its losses repair teams in interested sites and is working closely with the competent authorities to promptly carry out a joint investigation visit (JIV),” Edet said.
JIV is a legal probe in each accident of oil/gas loss reported by regulators, operators and host communities to ascertain the cause of losses, the volume of losses and affected areas.
According to Ondo, the evaluation by the joint investigation team will help determine the measure and the main cause of sabotage, which will allow the company to implement lasting solutions.
“Following the JIV, Ondo will begin large -scale repairs in the pipelines concerned to ensure that the operations resume as quickly as possible, giving priority to people’s safety, the protection of the environment and the well -being of the communities.
“The company undertakes to provide further updates as more information becomes available,” said Ondo.
