The People’s redemption party (PRP), has condemned what is described as “Erosion of the Integrity of Our Democracy Institutions and the impact of this corruption on national development” after the alleged piracy of the Nigerian procurement process.
In a statement on Wednesday by the Secretary of the National Publication of the Party, Camelarad Muhammmed Ishaq, the party expressed concern over the revelation that the procurement process had been shrouded in corruption of the highest order, condemning what he said was the lack of accountability.
The party, which reacts to revelation by the former Babafemi Ojudu senator for the alleged forgery of the procurement process, stated that they stood strongly against the institutionalized corruption that had overshadowed the country.
“Considering that the new revelation regarding the widespread corruption in the process of procuring Nigeria, the People’s Ridening Party (PRP) wants to express its deep concern for the erosion of the integrity of our democratic institutions and the impact of this corruption on national development,” Ishaq said in his statement.
“It has become clear that the system is highly designed to protect public funds and ensure that accountability has been systematically eroded. From Junior Civil Servants to the highest government level, the rampant practice of procurement manipulation does not only damage the principles of good governance but has changed the procurement process into transparency and justice ridicule.
“The account shared by the former Babafemi Ojudu senator illustrates the harsh reality: When those who issue contracts are also the same individual who are executed and supervise them, the potential for harassment is very surprising.
“A worrying trend in providing contracts to yourself or to companies owned by friends and/or colleagues has fostered the environment where accountability does not exist. Projects are increasing, funds are misused, and the quality is sacrificed-all of them pursue personal benefits.
“The PRP stands firmly against the institutionalized corruption that has overshadowed our country. When citizens are witnesses of dilapidated infrastructure cascade – the abandoned road project, ghost health center, and ghost school – the need for reforms is never greater.
“Every resource that is wasted is a blow to the promise of progress and direct attack on the welfare of the Nigerians, especially the most vulnerable among us.

“We believe that to reclaim our democracy and direct Nigeria towards the original development, we must reaffirm our commitment to the basic principles of procurement: transparency, competition, and independent supervision. PRP calls:
1. Law Enforcement Procurement:
Existing procurement regulations must be closely upheld to prevent corruption and ensure fair games in the provision of contracts.
2. Separation of strength:
Clear demarcation must be determined between entities that provide and carry out contracts to eliminate conflicts of interest and foster accountability.
3. Strengthening Supervision Institution:
The procurement bureau and audit office must be empowered and protected from political intervention to ensure they can operate independently and effectively.
4. Public involvement:
We urge civil society and citizens to remain vigilant and ask for government accountability at all levels. It is time to demand answers and advocate for the inclusion of strict supervision mechanisms.
5. Consequences for corruption:
The culture of impunity must end. Those who are found guilty of corruption practices must be prosecuted as far as the law to prevent violations in the future.
“When we continued to fight for a better Nigeria, PRP reiterated our commitment to revoke corruption from our governance structure.
“Democracy is not just about using our right to vote; this is basically about how diligent we manage public resources among elections.
“Let us gather to reclaim our democracy from the grip of fraudsters and restore the expectations of progress for all Nigerians. Our voices must unite in demanding accountability and integrity in all aspects of government, especially public procurement,” Ishaq concluded.
