Plateau government eases curfew in Jos North LGA

The Plateau State Government has announced a partial relaxation of the 48-hour curfew previously imposed in Jos North following last week’s violent attack in Angwan Rukuba.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Rt Hon Joyce Lohya Ramnap, said the decision followed reports from security agencies of a “relative calm” in the affected community.

Starting April 1, 2026, residents will be able to commute between 7am and 3pm, allowing them to resume essential activities during these hours.

The government urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding as security forces continue to monitor the area to prevent further unrest.

Ramnap praised the cooperation and resilience of residents during the period of heightened restrictions and reiterated the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The curfew was initially imposed after the violent incident in Angwan Rukuba, which required the immediate intervention of both security agents and state authorities.
