PMAN leadership crisis deepens after treasurer revokes recognition as former NWC member

The Performing Musicians Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (PMAN) is facing a deepening leadership crisis as the National Treasurer Mr. Baba Ojonugwa (JFO) has officially disowned the actions of former members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

In a letter dated September 6, 2024, Mr. Ojonugwa denounced the unauthorized use of his signature by the former NWC, which includes prominent figures such as Mr. Sunny Neji, Mr. Zaaki Azzay, Mr. Stephen Michael (Ruggedman), Mr. Boniface Itodo, and Mr. Faga Bem Paul.

In the letter, Ojonugwa asserted, “My signature has been fraudulently used in various communications and press releases issued by former NWC members. I have repeatedly warned them to stop this misuse, but my concerns have been ignored.”

The severance poses significant challenges for former NWC members, particularly in their ongoing legal dispute with the current PMAN leadership. According to the PMAN constitution, former NWC members now do not have the quorum required to hold official meetings or make decisions, as it requires the presence of six members. Without Ojonugwa, former NWC members can no longer legally represent PMAN or participate in official business.

Ojonugwa reiterated his commitment to the PMAN constitution and stated, “I never consented to the use of my digital signature. I urge former NWC members to desist from misusing my name. Any future document containing my signature without my express consent will be deemed invalid.”

The National Executive Council (NEC) of PMAN is expected to act swiftly in response to this development. With the formal dissolution of Ojonugwa, the NEC can seek legal remedies to address the claims of the former NWC and protect the integrity of the association.

As the situation develops, attention is focused on NEC and its legal team to navigate this crisis and restore stability within PMAN.
