The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (Nans) have met the management of the Dongote Group in Lagos for recurring accidents that involve trucks related to society in the students’ communities across the country.
The meeting, held at the administrative blockade of the Dangote refinery, presented the vice -president of Dangote Industries Limited, Dvg Edwin and other high officials of the company.
Speaking during the session, the president of the Naps, his companion Esofune Paul Oghayan, expressed deep concern for the accidents in which the students had been victims of accidents in dance trucks.
He mentioned cases that have left some wounded and families in difficulty, underlining the need for urgent intervention, adequate compensation and long -term safety measures to protect students at national level.
Likewise, the president of Nans, his partner Olususla L. Oladoja, denounced the increasing accidents and asked for more severe operational standards.
He claimed that many of the accidents could have been avoided with a greater application of the safety rules.
By responding, the director of the insurance of the Dangote group, Obashola Aloo, assured the students that the leaders that the company was already responding to some cases, including the air transport of one of the victims in a Lagos hospital for care.
He explained that some of the accidents were only recently brought to the attention of the company, but stressed that the management was committed to taking responsibility and ensuring that no victim was neglected.
For his part, the vice -president of Dangote Industries, Edwin, reiterated the commitment of the company for security and corporate responsibility.
He revealed that all Dangote Truck drivers were subjected to revolutionary, surveillance systems were introduced to monitor compliance and that further reforms were considered to strengthen operational standards.
He also clarified that some trucks that bring the logo of Dans have been managed by independent partners, urging the members of the public to always record plaque numbers and other details every time they occur accidents.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on the need for prolonged commitment. The Dangote Group has promised a closer collaboration with the student community to guarantee justice for victims and better safety, while the student bodies have promised to continue monitoring the process until the concrete results are achieved.
