Police Edo took action against the cult, arrested 28 suspects in Benin

The Edo State Police Command has intensified his struggle against the cult, capturing 28 suspected of being a cult during the coordinated attack on a criminal hiding place throughout Benin City.

In a statement released on Friday, the Commander of the Commander of the Command, Moses Yamu, revealed that the operation, which took place on June 4, 2025, between 16:00 and 10:00, formed a part of a sustainable campaign to curb crime related to cult in the state.

“The Edo state command has maintained his struggle against crime through visibility policies, community involvement and sustainable raids from criminal hiding places in the state,” Yamu said.

After the professional filtering process, 19 out of 28 suspects were found guilty and were charged with the court, according to the statement.

“During the raid, twenty -eight (28) people were arrested and played professionally where nineteen (19) of them were found involved, charged with court,” Yamu said.

The police spokesman added that three suspects claimed to be members of the famous cult group and had been charged.

“Three suspects arrested from various locations have claimed to be members of EIYE and Aye Confaterternities. They have been charged before the appropriate court,” he said.

Yamu further revealed that the order had begun the arrest of the house-to-houses of cult members identified in new efforts to reduce threats.

“In the continuation of his struggle against the cult, the command had begun the arrest of the house-to-houses of cult members identified in the state to ensure that the cult was eliminated or brought to the worst minimum,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of the State Police Edo, Monday, Agbonika, also considering, stated that these steps produce results and will improve public safety.

He issued a stern warning to the people involved in the cult to leave the affiliation, moved, or prepare to face the law full of law under the Edo State Secret Cult and the invitation of other related activities.
