The Nigerian police have sacked Corporal Buba Adamu, for refusing a transfer to Katsina in 2015.
Adamu, who was posted to the Cross River police command, was transferred to Katsina State but refused to report to his new office.
Command spokesperson Irene Ugbo confirmed the development at a press conference on Thursday in Calabar.
He said the dismissed police officer had promoted himself to a senior officer and was carrying out illegal activities under his command.
Adamu, according to Ugbo, had been serving as a โroving policemanโ without any supervision or reporting to a specific police command since 2015.
The spokesperson added that the candidate had received his salary despite not being at his new post.
โStarting today, Corporal Adamu is no longer a police officer because he has been relieved of his duties.
โAll Nigerian Police property in his possession, including uniforms, identity cards, etc., have been confiscated.
โThis matter has now been charged in court. Now it is up to the courts. The court will deal with it from the beginning, because we have done the needful,โ Ugbo added.
