Police agents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have killed one suspected kidnapper and arrested three others in a raid on their camp in a border community of Abuja.
Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
He said the raid was part of the command’s ongoing efforts against criminality in the FCT.
The spokesperson added that police officers from Utako Divisional Headquarters led by CSP Victor Godfrey raided the hideout of the identified kidnappers in Chikara, a border community in Kogi with the FCT.
Adeh said the three suspects were arrested during a clean-up operation from June 8 to 13.
He said: “The sudden appearance of police officers at the kidnappers’ camp resulted in a gun duel.
“However, the bandits were overwhelmed by the firepower of the police officers, as one of the gang members was hit in the crossfire and all three suspects were arrested.
“The suspects confessed to being involved in a series of kidnapping incidents and other heinous crimes in the FCT and beyond.
“A British-made pump-action shotgun, a locally-made pistol, two live bullets, sunglasses, a knife and items believed to be charms were recovered from the suspects.”
