The Ondo State Police Command said that a motorcyclist helped the kidnappers to perpetuate the kidnapping of a teacher in the state.
The police investigators revealed this while talking about seven suspicions of Omoniyi Samuel, professor at the Adekunle Ajasin University of State property, Akungba-Akoko.
According to the police, one of the 45 -year -old kidnappers was the commercial motorcyclist, who habitually transmitted the victim to his workplace daily.
A report by the Vanguard newspaper said that their arrest followed a discreet operation and guided by intelligence by the command agents, which discovered the coordinated roles that any suspicion carried out in the crime.
According to reports, the commercial motorcyclist used his familiarity to spy on the victim’s movements.
The police source said that “On 4 August 2025, he visited the teacher’s residence without a previous agreement, with the claim to request a phone.
“This was subsequently confirmed to be a calculated stratagem to study the victim’s activities and create an opening for the union.”
Shortly after his departure, other members of the gang moved and kidnapped the teacher.
“A Wasiu, 42 years old provided the Itel phone used to contact the victim’s family to ask for a redemption of N5.000.000.
“Although he said that the phone was lost on August 2, 2025, he did not report the loss to the police, a deliberate omission that helped the criminal company.
“His role was fundamental in maintaining communication between the kidnappers and relatives of the victim, thus facilitating redemption negotiations.
“The investigation also connected Audu Shaibu (25 years), Ismaila Abdullahi (24 years old), Nuru Bature (18 years old), Usman Baba (20 years old) and Yusuf Muhammed (23 years old), all Agopanu, Owo, to the physical execution of the REPI”, says the report.
A testimony of a witness confirmed that these five suspicions, who act in concert with a Benson Alaba and under the operational facilitation of Wasiu, participated in force with the victim strongly and asking directly the redemption of the family during the accident.
“The seamless coordination between Alaba surveillance, the support for Wasiu’s communication and the aggressive role of the five field agents clearly indicate a well -organized union of kidnapping,” says the report.
Contacted, the spokesman for the state police command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said that “the victim is receiving medical care at the Adekunle Ajasin University health center”.
