The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified its campaign against organized crime, successfully saving the victims kidnapped in the states of Bayelsa and Adamawa through coordinated and guided operations.
In a statement, Force Public Relations officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi Said on March 7, 2025, at approximateloy 3:03 pm, The Police Responded Swiftly to a district call reporting the abduction of Mr. Loveday Akari, Special Assistant to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in Ayakoro Community, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa Stato.
A quick and strategic operation, supported by other security agencies, led to the rescue of Akari and another victim, both unharmed and without any redemption payment.
He said in the state of Adamawa, following the kidnapping of two Catholic priests – the Reverend Fathers Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami – On February 21, 2025, the police launched a targeted operation.
The turning point came with the arrest of Tahamado Jonathan Demian, 34 years old, suspected of being connected to the kidnapping.
The well -coordinated rescue operation on March 8, 2025 led to the safe recovery of both priests, who are currently receiving medical treatment.
During the operation, an assault rifle were recovered locally, ammunition, a laptop and sim cards.
Investigations are underway, with efforts to arrest other suspicions still in freedom.
The police inspector general, PGI Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised officers involved for their courage and professionalism.
