Post Finidi Rant: Napoli’s new coach opens the door for Osimhen to leave the club this summer

Newly appointed Napoli manager Antonio Conte has opened the door for Victor Osimhen to leave the club this summer as part of a deal reached with the 25-year-old prior to his signing a month ago. OwnGoalNigeria.com reports .

Napoli, who failed to defend their title last season by finishing 10th in the league and Inter Milan replaced them as league champions. Conte was appointed to help them return to the level they were at before last season.

His appointment has come with some problems, as two of last season’s starters, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, made public their intentions to leave the team in the summer. However, the club is interested in keeping the duo.

Not so with Osimhen, who recently grabbed headlines after a foul-mouthed rant against former Nigeria senior national team coach Finidi George for questioning his commitment to the team, after missing the recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic respectively.

Conte made it clear that there was an agreement between Osimhen and the club regarding his possible departure before the close of the summer transfer window and that he would not stand in the way of the agreement reached before his appointment.

β€œI know your situation, I know that there is an agreement with the club so it is a different case from others.”

β€œThere is an agreement between VΓctor and Napoli about his future and I accepted it.”
