President Bola Tinubu said that the more funds they would be engaged in the development of infrastructures and invited governors to collaborate with the federal government to align the approvals of buildings.
The president, who commissioned the access road to the port of Lekki Deep Sea at the refinery of Dangote and the petrochemical system on Thursday in Lagos, said that a correct alignment of approval between subnational and federal governments will facilitate the construction of main roads and bridges across the country.
“I directed the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the general surveyor of the Federation to work more closely with the governors,” said the president.
President Tinubu said that aligning state approvals with the Federal Government will reduce the burden of compensation and delays in the implementation of people -oriented projects.
“Please, my dear governors, let’s work together. Do not give planning approvals without collaboration with the General Surveyor and the Ministry of Works. I am appealing to you to achieve the same development objective.
“I would like to underline the ban on the part of the Federal Government of Nigeria on any dragage within a radius of 10 km from all our bridges at national level. I appeal to all governors, relevant agencies and security agencies to immediately implement this ban,” said President Tinubu.
The ceremony came five days after the president commissioned phase 1 of section one of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, also in Lagos.

“It is necessary to note that the Federal Executive Council has approved our Legacy projects to be obtained, assigned and built in sections. The 30 km segment completed by the Lagos-Calabar coastal motorway is part of the 47.7 km contract and six lanes, not an wholesale contract of 750 km, as some have suggested. No contractor was assigned the entire corridor.
“Our approach was systematic, transparent and based on the section. The SuperHighway Sokoto-Badagry imagined 47 years ago under the Shagari administration, is another Legacy project that we revived. This corridor-that crossed trading, trading, and industrialization.
“Over 58 dams is connected, vast agricultural land land and commercial paths to our neighbors of West Africa and offers great promises for the generation of energy of the wind mill. The construction is well started. In Kebbi, we have completed over 10 km of the 258 km three -lane roadway, and today we march from the second roadway. This section is the longest in all our Legacy projects.
“In Sokoto, the works started on the 2ising-carriageway 2 km of three lanes from Illela. I understand that over 10 km of this project are already completed. Today, we will associate the second 120 km roadway with three lanes.
“The work is also in an advanced phase in this section. Further sections for the supply and the prize in the entire length of the SuperHighway Sokoto-Badagry have been designed. On my way here, I have witnessed significant progress in Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, with over 10 km of the 55 km stretch already completed.
“I am also happy to report ongoing works in the Cross River and Akwa Ibom sections and I have directed that more segments are designed and procured. The trans-Sahara commercial street, another visionary project, is constantly advancing. It will connect Calabar to Abuja via Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi and Nasarawa,” he said.
President Tinubu said he had directed an accelerated design on the 4th Legacy project of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi and Gombe Corridor to allow the start of the contracts.
