Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
The presidency announced Ngelale’s departure in a statement on Saturday, citing personal and family health reasons.
According to the statement, Ngelale handed a memo to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila on Friday informing him of his decision to take an indefinite leave. Ngelale has also resigned as the President’s Special Envoy for Climate Action and Chair of the Presidential Steering Committee for Project Evergreen.
The former presidential aide explained that his decision was made due to the “poor medical condition” of his immediate family, which has worsened in recent days.

Ngelale stated, “I fully understand that the ship of state waits for no one, but this painful decision was taken after significant consultation with my family over the past few days.”
Ngelale expressed his commitment to returning to serve his country when circumstances allow, saying, “I hope to return to full-time service to his country when time, healing, and fate allow it.”
He respectfully asks for privacy for his family during this challenging time.
The sudden departure of Ngelale, a key figure in the President’s communications team, has raised questions about its potential impact on the government’s media strategy. However, the Presidency has not yet announced a replacement or interim arrangement.
