Pressure against terrorists: the Defense headquarters praises the troops of the Fansan Yamma operation

Gusau (Core Reporter) The Defense headquarters evaluation team (DHQ) praised the efforts of the troops of the Fansan Yamma (OPFY) operation for their dedication in supporting the pressure against terrorists and criminal elements in the north-western part and parts of the region of the North North Center. This was revealed by the team leader, the major General WB Idris, during an evaluation visit to the OPFY headquarters in Gusau, in the state of Zamfara, Tuesday 15 July 2025.

The major General Idri highlighted the importance of the continuous evaluation of joint operations to guarantee alignment with the strategic objectives of the military and the national objective of establishing the joint task force. He also stated that the visit aimed to evaluate the current state of operational activities, strengthen the collaboration between agencies and identify the opportunities to improve the overall effectiveness of anti-terrorism and anti-Banditry efforts throughout the region.

The team leader specifically praised the professionalism and coordination shown by the troops, including the staff of various security agencies involved in the OPFY current operations. He praised the resilience and dedication of the troops, in particular given the demanding ground and the complex threats to the safety they face daily. He urged the troops to maintain the current rhythm and underlined the importance of better coordination between the safety agencies and the other parties concerned to maximize operational efficiency.

The commander of the theater, the main general Oloyinka Soyel, expressed appreciation for the visit of the DHQ team, describing it as a vital step to strengthen the field operations. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting operational efficacy and underlined the importance of motivating troops and promoting collaboration without interruption among all the interested parties of safety.

Later the team visited some troops at the forefront of Kwotorkoshi and Tsafe, in the areas of the local government of Bungudu and Tsafe of the state of Zamfara. During the visits, the team leader praised the efforts of the troops and encouraged them to remain concentrated on achieving the OPFY mandate. The visit of the DHQ team was essential to increase the moral of troops, validate the current efforts and reaffirm the government’s commitment to restore peace and security in the region.
