Prisoners, Deaf, Blind and Foreign Students Exempted from Post-UTME Education – JAMB Registrar.

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, exempts prisoners, deaf, blind and foreign students from any post-UTME exercise by any tertiary institution.

This was disclosed at the 2018 JAMB policy meeting held in Gbogan, Osun State where the exemption of this category of candidates was approved.

Oloyede said the exemption of the above-mentioned category of candidates would be addressed by the institutions through positive and inclusive actions for their accommodation.

He said: “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has put in place a mechanism that would prevent any candidate from taking undue advantage of this exemption. For instance, only candidates who are either foreigners or Nigerians, who are confirmed residents in foreign countries and who are from a foreign school system can benefit from this privilege in the interest of internationalisation of the country’s tertiary institutions.

“A Nigerian who has stayed less than six months in a foreign country is not allowed to sit his UTME in a foreign country.”
