Director General of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said that BPOM is still investigating the claims made by the General Supervisor of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, about the production of miraculous water and soap that is claimed to have been registered and certified by BPOM.
The NAFDAC Director-General, in a statement on Sunday, said to the best of his knowledge, none of the products advertised and sold by Prophet based in Warri, Delta State is registered with the agency as he is merely using the name of NAFDAC to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
“NAFDAC wishes to warn the public about the activities of a faith-based organization – Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries – which is using the name of NAFDAC to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the DG said in the statement.
“Recently, NAFDAC was inundated with petitions from concerned citizens about Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, Km 5 Effurun, Sapele Road, Delta State, about his Miracle Water and Miracle Soap being advertised with claims of healing and miracles and sold to unsuspecting members of the public by his Spiritual Ministry.
“The Minister flaunted the use of the Miracle Water and Miracle Soap on social media to cure infertility. He claimed that women would conceive twins if they used the soap. He openly told his congregation that the soap was registered with NAFDAC. Therefore, people started flocking to the office to confirm the claim.
“The applicants also submitted the following products from the Ministry of Spirituality to NAFDAC to verify the false claims.
“The products are Miracle & Healing Water, Jordan River Water, Miracle Water from the Pool of Bethsaida, Miracle Water from Mount Camel, Water of Life, Miracle Water from the Pool of Bethsaida (1 liter), Pool of Bethsaida Water, and Father’s Scented Perfume.”
Adeyeye stated that upon receipt of the petition, the agency contacted the Delta State Coordinator, through the agency’s Director of Post-Marketing Oversight, to ascertain the existence or record of any transaction with Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries and products at the Delta State Office.
“The Coordinator was also instructed to visit the Ministry to ascertain the veracity of the claims in the petition and take necessary regulatory action against the production facilities in the Ministry where Magic Water and other products are manufactured.

“The State Coordinator secretly purchased Magic Water (25cl) for 3000 naira from the Ministry and took pictures of it.
“On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the Delta State Coordinator visited the Ministry of Mercy Land and met with the Head of Service – Mr. Ogunleye Fufeyin and the Chief Security Officer. The officials denied producing the Miracle and Healing Water or Soap despite evidence of purchase receipts.
“He claimed that only the Logo and address on the label belonged to them, but not the product. HOS added that they only owned the Bethsaida water pool, which was spiritual and artificial. HOS asked for time to meet with other staff and come back. He came back after 30 minutes and refused to cooperate, asking them to meet the CSO.
“On August 27, 2024, the Investigation and Law Enforcement Team of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit Drugs and Unhealthy Processed Food visited the Ministry to initiate an investigation at the place of purchase or manufacturing location for possible sampling for laboratory analysis, but the officials did not cooperate with the team. An invitation letter was issued to the officials to report on August 28, but it was not heeded.
“The company instead submitted legal documents at NAFDAC Headquarters, Abuja, on August 28, 2024 and requested to return on September 3, 2024, to process their documents before coming. The agency then gave Nabi until the 29th to report to the NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement Office, Asaba for further necessary investigations.
“Asaba Investigation and Law Enforcement waited for Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries officials based on their earlier request to report to commence investigations, but they still refused to come. On September 3, 2024, they forwarded some documents instead of asking for more time to report.
“As a continuation of our investigation, NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement has sealed the Globod Drinking Water factory for aiding and abetting the production, sale and advertising of unregistered and unhealthy Miracle Water under the pretext of Fake NAFDAC Registration Number.
“At this point, it is very clear that Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries is not ready to submit itself to investigation into the production and advertising of allegedly fake, unhealthy and unregistered miracle products.
“NAFDAC wishes to inform the public that none of these products being advertised and sold are registered with NAFDAC. The public is also urged to stop using these miracle products. NAFDAC is a scientific organization that is guided by verifiable scientific facts before registering any product.
“In the meantime, we will continue our investigation into the activities of these religious organizations regarding the products within our mandate that are reportedly produced and sold by them. I would like to take this opportunity to warn religious organizations against the illegal production of regulated products without the necessary regulatory requirements.”
