Arsenal goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo has expressed his delight at signing a new contract with the London club.
In an interview with the official club websiteOkonkwo said he is working hard to break into the Gunners’ first team.
“It is a proud moment for me and my family. I have worked hard over the past few years to achieve this. It is a step for me that allows me to continue striving to reach new goals and achieve more successful moments like this in the future.

“It’s a huge satisfaction. The club trusts me, which is very important, it helps me gain confidence. I’ve been here for almost eight years, so I’ve built up a lot of relationships and it’s one of the best clubs in the world.”
“My parents have worked very hard and I am very happy that it has not been in vain. My brother was also at the club and has pushed me forward, as have the coaches.”
Brian has been on loan on multiple occasions and has played in different areas of goalkeeping at Hitchin Town, Leatherhead and Cheshunt.
“My loan spells were completely different to academy football,” he said. “They made me a better person on and off the pitch.
“I see a long-term future here and I want to keep moving forward and see more success, but be patient at the same time.”
