The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State on Thursday slammed a member of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Aminu Garu, for poor representation in the Green Chamber.
In a statement by its state Secretary, Abdulaziz Haruna, the party regretted that the lawmaker representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in the lower house of the legislature had distributed sugarcane stalks to youths as an empowerment initiative.
He said: “A viral picture has emerged showing Hajiya Fatima Aliyu Aminu Garu, wife of Honourable Aliyu Aminu Garu, Member of the House of Representatives representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, allegedly distributing sugarcane stalks to some youths as an empowerment initiative.”
“This action does not meet the standards of representation expected of the good citizens of Bauchi Federal Constituency.”
“As a party, we believe that true representation is more than symbolism and selective empowerment programs.

“The people of Bauchi Local Government Area/Federal Region deserve more than paltry handouts and superficial gestures. They deserve meaningful development initiatives that address their pressing needs and problems.
“We call on Honourable Aliyu Garu to account for his actions and inactions in the National Assembly. Specifically, we demand to know what tangible development initiatives he has brought to the people of Bauchi Local Government Area since his election.”
“How many bills has he sponsored that have had a positive impact on people’s lives? What concrete projects has he initiated or supported to improve the welfare and livelihoods of his constituents?”
“We urge His Excellency Aliyu Garu to demonstrate his commitment to serving the community by striving to achieve tangible benefits that go beyond mere symbolism and handouts.
“We also call on the people of Bauchi Local Government Area/Federal Constituency to hold their representatives accountable for their actions or lack thereof. It is time for a change in representation that truly reflects the aspirations and needs of our constituents.”
