PSC promotes 55 senior police officers, increasing specialists in folds

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the main round of promotion within the Nigerian Police, appointed twelve police commissioners (CP) to the prestigious Assistant General (AIG) assistant ranking and promoting dozens of other senior officers in various special departments.

In a statement released on Monday by Ikechukwu Ani, the head of the press and public relations for the commission, the latest promotion reflects a sustainable commitment to the achievements, professionalism, and the best global practice in the police structure.

Among those who were promoted were 16 representatives of the Police Commissioner who were appointed to the Police Commissioner, and 27 Assistant Commissioner of the Police who have now reached the rank of the Deputy Commissioner.

However, not all candidates meet the criteria. The commission holds the promotion of one Assistant Commissioner, whose name is not disclosed, because there is no during promotional training.

In addition, 145 police supervisors were promoted to become the Assistant Commissioner of the Police. This batch includes officers from public duties and specialists in the fields such as flights, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, laboratory science, physiotherapy, and nursing. Others promoted include priests, airplane engineers, and Airwing officers.

Also promoted are 29 supervisors, all specialists in information technology, works, and automatic fingerprint identification systems (Afis), which rise to the rank of police chiefs. The commission further approved the promotion of 38 representatives of the supervisor (specialist) to the rank of police supervisors.

Twenty -seven Assistant Commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, including:

Shehu Idris, David Adio Alalada (Acting DCP Admin, Enugu Command), Dalhatu Basher, Hamzat Tambai, Abdulkarim Nuhu (Commander Area, Harcourt Port), Olumi Akinwale Akinola, Sani Fudaiku Kura, Jacobu Isah, Isa Abubakar Okunola, Abimbola Shafkat Abdulraheem, Adekunle Muriku Shop, and many more.

Leading among the 145 heads of supervisory promoted to the Assistant Commissioner are:

Zubairu Maina, Olufikayo Abimbola Fawole, Stephen Olusola Olastise, Buhari Abdullahi, AkiYere Ethuk, Lateef Jaiyeola (CSP Admin, Korpor Education), Agbemoroti Clement Oloruntoba, Magaji Uni Mohammo Mohammed ( (Oigpan) (Oigporo, Oloruntoba, Magaji Kabomo Mohammo (Oigpane Mohammed Mohammed (Oigporo Mohammed (OIG) Headquarters).

Others include specialists such as:

Promotion is the result of a comprehensive examination and the interview process coordinated by Dig Taiwo Lakanu (RTD.), Chair of the Committee Committee on Police Problems, which presents the final report for plenary approval.

Speaking after promotion approval, PSC Chair, Hashima Argungu, reiterated the commitment of the commission to professional standards through examination -based promotions.

“The promotional test remains in line with the best global practice,” Argungu said. “The 21st century police must be good enough to hold himself anywhere and ensure that Nigeria is released from criminals and crime.”

He congratulated all successful officers and encouraged them to remain firm in their commitment to national services.

“Officers must sit or show a way out,” he warned. “I urge everything that is promoted to dedicate themselves to serve their nation.”
