In a bold move aimed at making the club’s vision and development advance, the IMO Queens attackers have officially moved from Owerri to Awka, to the state of Anambra, where they now operate as a completely affiliated anambra team.
This strategic switch marks a new chapter for the ambitious women’s football club while preparing to compete in the next Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) championship, with a clear objective of guaranteeing promotion to the NWFL premiership.
Speaking of the development, the president and CEO of the club, Prince Chidi, said that the decision was necessary for long -term growth of the club. “We have concluded all the plans to pursue our championship campaign from Awka. Our goal is to earn promotion and bring high -level women’s football to the people of Anambra,” he said.
While the detailed reasons underlying the transfer were not disseminated, the sources inside the club hinted that the move was essential for the next growth and opportunities of the team.
Prince Chidi also revealed that the club has received a full approval from the Ambra State Football Association, led by its president, Mr. Chikeelue iloanyosis
He observed that he has promised his full support to guarantee the success of the team.
With the season of the NWFL championship on the horizon, the striker of the Queens soul is putting the objectives on the delivery of football at the level of the elite in Anambra and bringing pride to their new state of origin.
