The Rasulul A’Azam Foundation (Raaf), a Shiite group based in Kano and including followers of the Ahlul Baiti tradition of the prophet Muhammad (Saw), appealed to the government of the State of Kano to include it in the next religious debate with the cleric Malam Lewan Triumph, to be organized by the Council Shura of the State.
The delegation, led by the head of the Tabli Department of Raaf, the sheikh Bashir Lawan Kano, Thursday, made a courtesy visit to the secretary of the state of Kano, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, where he presented key and request concerns.
The sheikh Bashir explained that Raaf’s participation in the debate was crucial, given the influence and role of the group in the propagation of religious messages in the state of Kano. However, he criticized what he described as the deliberate marginalization of Shiite members in the field of governance and religious affairs in the state, that this exclusion undermines peace and unity.
The Foundation also invited the government to ensure that Malam Lawan faces justice for alleged derogatory observations against the Prophet, at the same time urgement that the process in the course of the Sorme Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara can be authorized to proceed without political or government interference.
Furthermore, the sheikh Bashir accused the former administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of having fueled the division favored some religious groups compared to others, a development that said the religious balance in the state destabilized.
He also stressed that the followers of Shi’a played a significant role in the emergence of the current government of Kano during the last elections, insisting on the fact that recognition and inclusion still deserve in political and religious decision -making platforms.
Raaf then urged the state government to support equity and justice among all the religious groups of Kano.
