Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers of Niger, has called on Muslims and Nigerians at large to rededicate themselves to the worship of God and remain steadfast in their faith during the holy month of Ramadan.
The royal father made the call during the Ramadan Tafsir held at the Etsu Usman Zaki Central Mosque in Bida.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to safeguard their fast from any act capable of diminishing its spiritual value, underlining the need for discipline, sincerity and total submission to the will of Allah throughout the holy month.
According to him, Ramadan is a time of spiritual renewal, self-control and increased devotion, and therefore requires believers to consciously avoid actions and expressions that could invalidate or ruin their fast.
The Etsu Nupe stressed the importance of patience in the pursuit of worldly aspirations, advising Nigerians to trust in God’s timing in all circumstances.
“If God grants us what we desire, we should be patient and grateful. And if it has not happened yet, we must remain patient and have firm faith that it will happen at the appropriate time foreseen by God,” he said.
The first-class traditional ruler also urged the faithful to cultivate the habit of appreciating God in every situation, stressing that gratitude and patience are key virtues that strengthen faith and attract divine blessings.
The royal father prayed to Allah to grant Muslims the patience and firm faith needed to reap all the spiritual benefits of the holy month.
He also sought divine acceptance of the faithful’s fasting and supplications, and protection against anything that might invalidate their acts of worship.
The Etsu Nupe also offered prayers for peace and stability in Nigeria, stressing that national peace is essential for meaningful development.
He prayed that God would grant the country lasting peace so that leaders at all levels could effectively provide the people with the much-needed dividends of democracy.
Furthermore, he prayed for the forgiveness of his parents, both living and deceased, asking Allah to bestow His mercy on them.
Ramadan Tafsir was attended by Islamic scholars, holders of traditional titles and members of the Muslim community of Bida and its surroundings.
