Rangers International Football Club Foundation (RIFC Foundation), Enugu, on 7 October 2025, launched a Sports Intervention Program at Therapeutic Secondary School (Inclusivity), Abakpa Nike, Enugu State, South Eastern Nigeria.
According to the Chairman of the Rangers Intl FC Foundation, Coach Ebere Amaraizu, the initiative – carried out in collaboration with the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association (Enugu State Chapter), the Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization (CAPIO), the Grehen Global Care Foundation and the Enugu State Football Referees Association – aims to promote the physical, emotional and mental well-being of pupils and students, including those with special needs.
“We all know what sport can do in terms of strengthening our cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills to achieve crucial results,” Amaraizu said. “This intervention, although short-term, is designed to produce measurable results that will be sustainable. We have conducted a needs assessment and collected data to ensure regular engagement, and all partners are playing a vital role in this important exercise.”
She further explained that the choice of Therapeutic (Inclusive) Secondary School was intentional, as it aligns with the Foundation’s mission to foster a compassionate and inclusive community.
“We must reach out to those who seem abandoned due to various challenges. Sports has the power to bring everyone together under one platform,” he added, expressing appreciation to Mrs Ebigbo and her school team for their support.
Amaraizu also thanked all partners for their trust in the Foundation, especially the US Government Exchange Alumni Association (Enugu Chapter), CAPIO and the Grehen Global Care Foundation, for their trust and collaboration.
The highlight of the event was the establishment of Taekwondo, chess and football referee clubs in the school, a move designed to make the community-based intervention sustainable and measurable.
Amaraizu also revealed that additional clubs will be introduced in the coming months to enhance students’ holistic wellbeing, sporting experience and career development.
